Holistic Health With Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender oil is one of the most popular and versatile of the essential oil family. Its calming fragrance can be found in countless products from candles, toiletries, hair products and body creams. Lavender Oil contains over an amazing 150 super charged properties. These include calmative, natural antidepressant, antibacterial, antiseptic, antimicrobial and is a superb anti-inflammatory. 1. Lavender Oil for Pain Relief
Lavender oil contains powerful anti-inflammatory and pain reducing qualities. These can help in reducing inflammation and swelling. From soothing aching over worked muscles, a backache, or even arthritis pain. This awesome essential oil can help. Simply pour a several drops into a warm bath and soak the pain away. It’s calming effects, will have you relaxed in no time.

The calming and relaxing properties produced by this oil make it ideal for combatting anxiety. Simply pour a couple of drops onto a tissue or handkerchief and inhale. Alternatively, pour several drops in a diffuser and breath yourself calm.

Lavender oil can be used to relieve problems with breathing. It’s best to use with a diffuser as the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of this oil can soothe the airways and lungs, making it easier to breath. 4. Can Treat Fungal Infections
Lavender oil is a great natural treatment for treating fungal infections. Research has shown that lavender oil has powerful antifungal properties that can combat the fungus. This can lead to many nail and skin infections. For feet or hands, put several drops in a bowl of warm water and soak for twenty minutes. Or try diluting a few drops in a splash of water and with a cotton ball, dab the affected area. Leave for twenty minutes, rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
5. Natural Insect Repellent
Using lavender oil in a spray is an ideal, natural way to keep insects at bay. With many of us plagued by mosquitos in the warmer months, having a natural spray to hand can help greatly. To a 2oz bottle add 20 drops of lavender essential oil, 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and top up with distilled water. Give a good shake to mix the ingredients and spray on exposed skin.
Although this essential oil is usually safe to apply directly onto the skin, always do a small patch test to rule out the risk of an allergic reaction. Do not use on broken or bleeding skin as that maybe painful. If in doubt, consult a qualified health care professional before using any essential oil.
