How to Fight Fatigue and Boost Energy Naturally
Feeling sluggish during the mid-afternoon, or wake up feeling exhausted? You are not alone. Fatigue is such a common problem that affects those of all age groups. It can be attributed to many things like caffeine addiction, erratic sleep patterns, or stress. This causes us to be emotionally, mentally, and physically spent at all hours of the day. But it doesn’t have to be a persistent state you remain in. Rather, here are ten natural ways to fight fatigue and boost your energy levels.
1. Improve Your Sleep Quality
You do this by consistently going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time. Make sure to eliminate any type of caffeine consumption during evening hours and consider writing out a journal either about the stress if your day or the tasks you have to complete the next day.
2. Exercise Regularly
Although you may not feel like exercising, it consistently improves how efficient your muscles are working. This in turn helps to fight fatigue, and provides you with more energy throughout the day. It also improves blood flow to the brain and lightens moods.
3. Eat Smaller Meals
If you can eat smaller meals throughout the day as these will help you keep more stable energy levels. Avoid meals overloaded with calories, as that will lead to food fatigue from being too full.
4. Use Adaptogens
These essentially help boost your energy levels by helping the body respond to stress levels. Some of these include the goji berry, basil, and ginseng.
5. Avoid Over-consumption Of Sugar
A lot of people will use sugar to give themselves a boost, but unfortunately, this boost is temporary and actually saps your energy away after that initial rush. Plus, having too much of the white stuff will cause you to crave more food and drinks.
6. Get Talking
When you go throughout the day, instead of making a minimal effort to communicate with those around you, actually pay attention to them. Not only will this help you feel more connected to the world, but you will actually feel more energized by positive communications. Lunch break isn’t the only time you can do this though, so get up from the office desk and try communicating more!
7. Eat an Excellent Breakfast
Make sure you are consuming both fats and proteins in the morning as these will boost your energy levels. Not only will this help you with sustained energy throughout the day, it wakes your brain up and helps it get to that functioning point a lot easier and healthier than any caffeine will.
8. Utilize the Green Tea Train
There’s a reason why green tea is always recommended over coffee. It has less caffeine than coffee and it contains L-theanine, which promotes calm energy. You can also have more than one cup a day and it is filled wit antioxidants.
9. Stay Hydrated Throughout The Day
If you are not one to keep a full water bottle with you, then you might be becoming fatigued due to dehydration. Drinking water throughout the day can help keep your energy levels within an optimum region. Plus, a cold glass of water with lemon in the morning is incredibly refreshing!
10. Stretch When You Wake Up
Any type of stretch that will help release tension and stress will help immensely as it will make you feel more relaxed. Try running tennis balls down the back of your neck or in between the shoulder blades. When you release tension from the body, it frees up more energy to be spent elsewhere.
In addition to the above, it is important to make sure that you are getting the necessary food intake in terms of vitamins and minerals. It is often found in individuals who suffer from fatigue, that they are missing some essential components which contribute to fatigue. Make sure you are eating healthy, don’t have extra weight, and are combating stress as all of these, when done poorly, will wear you down.
